NECEC (New England Clean Energy Council) issued the following statement regarding An Act Relative to a Long-Term, Sustainable Solar Industry, filed by Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker.

The Massachusetts Solar Coalition, an alliance of solar and clean energy industry organizations, businesses and solar and environmental advocates, commends Senator Ben Downing and the Massachusetts Senate on the July 23rd passage of SB 1979, a bill that, among other things, would lift caps on solar net metering, one of the most important solar policies in the Commonwealth.  The Coalition also welcomes last week’s announcement by Governor Charlie Baker that he will file a bill in the near future that will address the need to raise the net metering caps.

Following the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) release of the final rule for carbon emissions from existing power plants under Section 111(d) of the Clean Air Act, commonly referred to as the Clean Power Plan (CPP), NECEC (the New England Clean Energy Council) and leading clean energy businesses issued the following statements.

As part of the New England Clean Energy Council’s (NECEC) Fourth Annual Massachusetts Clean Energy Day, executives representing NECEC member companies visited the Massachusetts State House today to showcase the state’s vibrant clean energy industry. 

The Mass Solar Coalition, an alliance of solar and clean energy industry organizations, businesses and solar and environmental advocates, commended the work of the Net Metering and Solar Task Force, which sent a final report to the State Legislature last week with recommendations on the future of solar policy in the Commonwealth. The Coalition now calls on the Legislature to act quickly to raise the net metering cap, a policy recommendation that was supported by the majority of voting members of the Task Force. 

NECEC’s Cleantech Navigate Northeast program announced a collaboration with the Wells Fargo Foundation’s $4.5 million Clean Technology and Innovation program to support technology advancements for a clean energy future.
