Policy & Advocacy

As the leading climate economy organization in the region, NECEC influences the energy, innovation and workforce policy agendas throughout New England and New York, building a resilient, connected and decarbonized world where all communities, businesses and institutions are empowered by a thriving climate economy.

If you are in the business of clean, efficient energy, NECEC is where you want to be!

MISSION-DRIVEN, RESULTS-ORIENTED

NECEC is the only trade organization in the Northeast that covers all of the clean energy market segments—representing the business perspectives of investors and clean energy companies across every stage of development.

NECEC is also a mission-driven nonprofit, leading the just, equitable, and rapid transition to a clean energy future and a diverse climate economy.

Our members span the clean energy and climate tech sectors, including clean transportation, energy efficiency, wind, solar, energy storage, microgrids, fuel cells, and advanced and “smart” technologies to help build a healthier, more resilient world.

THE CONNECTIVE THREAD

With relationships across all levels of government, utilities, the nonprofit and educational sectors, as well as partner trade groups—we are the connective thread—providing our members with insights, leadership and access to help your clean energy company thrive.

Our results-oriented team brings together business leaders and key stakeholders to engage in influential policy discussions and business initiatives that propel the clean energy industry forward—while also supporting state climate, clean energy, environmental and equity goals.

HELPING YOU STAY INFORMED AND ENGAGED

Whether you are a small start-up or a national company, we will help you stay on top of the changing policy landscape across numerous states. NECEC’s Policy and Government Affairs team offers resources and information on legislative, regulatory and program developments—so you can stay informed and maximize your time.

Through research, tracking, strategic discussions, and delivering public comments, we are the region’s leading voice for the clean energy and climate economy. We help you stay informed and engaged with succinct and timely email updates, blogs, informative meetings, online learning sessions and in person events such as state house Clean Energy Days.

Our core structure is NECEC’s Policy Committee, which meets monthly to share updates and insights on the most pressing and complex issues that matter to you, such as connecting clean energy projects to the grid, siting and permitting challenges, new ratemaking frameworks, funding and financing, regional and federal considerations, workforce development, and more.

Want to go deeper? Industry members are invited to join one or more Working Groups as well as join in on ad hoc projects to develop public comments or help work through policy challenges.

Working Groups currently include:

  • The Solar and Storage Working Group
  • The Offshore Wind Working Group
  • The Energy Efficiency and Demand Response Working Group
