2024 Green Future Gala Awards

We are so excited to announce that we are now accepting votes for our Green Future Gala Awards. This is the first year that we have ever opened voting to the public, and we're doing so because this is a conversation that everyone needs to be a part of!

By highlighting these nominees, NECEC aims to inspire others to pursue groundbreaking solutions that address climate change, promote economic growth, and ensure a just and equitable energy future for all.

We host the Green Future Gala annually to highlight innovative achievements within the climate economy and emphasize the importance of leadership, collaboration, and dedication to sustainability. Fireside Chat with Sen. Ed Markey and MA Climate Chief Melissa Hoffer

Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey and MA Climate Chief Melissa Hoffer sit down with WGBH Radio host Jim Braude at the 2023 Northeast Clean Energy Council's Green Future Gala to discuss how a climate economy is forming around clean energy and widespread decarbonization. They talked about the groundbreaking Inflation Reduction Act along with critical climate action being taken by states in the Northeast.

2023 Clean Energy Company of the Year: Vineyard Wind

Vineyard Wind takes home NECEC's 2023 Clean Energy Company of the Year for becoming the first commercial offshore wind farm in the United States. Klaus Skoust Møller, CEO of Vineyard Wind, and Ken Kimmell, VP for Offshore Wind Development at Avangrid, accepted the award.

Special Recognition for 2022 Clean Energy Company of the Year Winner Solstice Power Technologies

At its 2023 Green Future Gala, NECEC gave a special recognition to its 2022 Clean Energy Company of the Year Award winner Solstice Power Technologies.

Community Impact Champion: BlocPower

At its 2023 Green Future Gala, NECEC debuted a new Community Impact Champion Award to honor a company whose work in clean energy is making a tangible difference in lower income communities. BlocPower took home the inaugural award.

Emerging Companies of the Year: Boston Metal and Sublime Systems

Two winners shared the honors of being the 2023 NECEC Emerging Company of the Year: Boston Metal, which is producing decarbonized steel, and Sublime Systems, which is producing decarbonized concrete. Together they stand at the forefront of a revolution in the building construction industry.

Startup Supporter of the Year: SeaAhead

Taking home NECEC's 2023 Startup Supporter of the Year Award was SeaAhead, which fosters ocean-related startup companies, many with a focus on decarbonization.

Environmental Justice Achievement Award: Leticia Colon de Mejias

At its 2023 Green Future Gala, NECEC gave a special Environmental Justice Achievement Award to Leticia Colon de Mejias, who is the Executive Director of Connecticut-based Efficiency For All, which raises awareness on the value of energy efficiency to our economy, environment, energy stability and our health. She has been a clarion voice in the Nutmeg State that the only successful transition to clean energy will be a just transition to clean energy. Accepting this award on her behalf was Gabriel Difelici, Efficiency For All’s Mental Health Coordinator and Assistant to Ms. Colon de Mejías.

Partnership of the Year: Resilient Urban Neighborhoods and the Green Justice Coalition

Taking home NECEC's 2023 Partnership of the Year were the organizations involved in building microgrids in Chelsea, Mass. and the Chinatown section of Boston. These projects are adding climate resiliency while also fostering the adoption of clean energy in lower income communities.
