Business Groups Congratulate Alicia Barton upon Appointment as President & CEO of New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA)

Today, groups representing advanced energy companies – national business group Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) and its regional partner, Northeast Clean Energy Council (NECEC) – released these statements congratulating Alicia Barton upon her appointment as president and chief executive officer of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).

“In choosing Alicia Barton to take the helm at NYSERDA, New York State has gotten a proven leader in advanced energy development,” said Lisa Frantzis, senior vice president of 21st Century Electricity System for AEE. “She understands the interplay of public sector programs and private sector investment that creates jobs and delivers benefits for consumers in the creation of an energy system for the 21st century. As New York continues its nation-leading role in advanced energy growth and utility business model reform, NYSERDA could not be in better hands.”

“We applaud NYSERDA for today’s appointment and congratulate Alicia Barton, who has made a significant impact on the growth of clean energy in the Northeast through her public and private sector roles, including as former head of the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC),” said NECEC President Peter Rothstein. “Alicia is a proven leader and champion of clean energy and we look forward to continuing our work with her and NYSERDA to catalyze New York’s cleantech innovation ecosystem and clean energy economy to benefit consumers, its economy, and the environment.”
