NECEC Statement Applauding Governor Baker for Signing The Next Generation Climate Roadmap Bill

BOSTON - NECEC today released the following statement in response Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker’s signing of the state’s Next Generation Climate Roadmap bill:

“We applaud Governor Baker for signing the Next Generation Climate Roadmap bill into law and demonstrating the Commonwealth’s climate, clean energy, and Environmental Justice leadership,” said NECEC President Peter Rothstein. “Thanks to the leadership of many--particularly Senate President Spilka and Speaker Mariano--this bill establishes critical long-term emissions reductions targets and will help Massachusetts transition to an equitable clean energy economy that delivers climate and economic benefits for all. The targets we set today will lay the foundation for the clean energy jobs of tomorrow. We look forward to working with the Governor, the Legislature, and policymakers across the state to implement the climate solutions made possible by this bill.”

NECEC has been active in supporting the Next Generation Climate Roadmap bill. In January, NECEC sent a letter to Governor Baker urging him to sign the legislation into law and also co-led a separate letter from the Alliance for Clean Energy Solutions (ACES).
