NECEC Releases 2015 Maine Clean Energy Priorities, Holds Third Annual Maine Clean Energy Day

As part of the New England Clean Energy Council’s (NECEC) Third Annual Maine Clean Energy Day, executives representing NECEC member companies visited the Maine State House today to showcase the state’s vibrant clean energy industry and the benefits it provides Maine.

“Maine’s clean energy businesses are bringing new technologies to market and delivering important renewable energy and energy efficiency services to businesses and residents both within Maine and throughout the region, making our energy cleaner and more affordable,” said NECEC President Peter Rothstein. “We look forward to showcasing the state’s growing clean energy businesses and honoring the public and elected officials who show great leadership in advancing clean energy in Maine.”

NECEC, the lead voice for hundreds of clean energy companies across New England, influencing the energy policy agenda and growing the clean energy economy, released its 2015 Maine Clean Energy Policy Priorities today, which outline key legislative priorities to advance clean energy in Maine.

As part of Maine Clean Energy Day, NECEC will present its 2015 Clean Energy Champion awards to three Maine lawmakers and public officials today. This year, NECEC’s Maine Clean Energy Champion Awards go to Maine Speaker of the House Representative Mark Eves, State Senator Roger Katz and State Senator and Minority Leader Justin Alfond for their leadership in advancing the clean energy economy in Maine.

“I am honored to be receiving this award,” said Senate Democratic Leader Justin Alfond of Portland. “I have fought hard throughout my legislative career to expand the use of clean and renewable energy and to encourage energy efficiency. I look forward to working with advocates at the NECEC to continue making strides in these areas.”

Maine Clean Energy Day showcases the growing vitality of the clean energy industry and the importance of consistent policy support as a means of catalyzing the state and regional economy. Maine Clean Energy Champion awards are awarded to lawmakers and public officials who go above and beyond to advance clean energy in Maine.
