Emerging Trends Series: 24/7 Clean Energy

Certain corporations have long led the charge to decarbonization by entering into power purchase agreements (PPAs) to offset their electricity and energy consumption with renewable resources. But, simply matching consumption with renewable production on an annual basis isn’t enough if we are going to truly decarbonize our energy supply--we need to overlay both temporal and geographic elements. Again, corporations are leading the way by entering into PPAs that seek (or approach) 24/7 clean energy procurement by matching supply and demand in real-time. RMI's recent report explores these strategies and their far-reaching implications for broader grid transition and emission reductions. NECEC is bringing together the corporations, developers, researchers and policy experts leading the 24/7 clean energy charge to share their perspectives on what’s been done to date and how we can bring this strategy to a system wide scale.
