Audi Announces Collaboration with WiTricity

Audi has announced it is working on wireless charging technology using WiTricity's technology to allow charging to automatically start upon entry to a garage. In the system, power is transferred from an inductive charging point to the vehicle using a magnetic field when the vehicle is in the proper charging position.

First Wind Starts Construction of Hawaii's Largest Wind Project

First Wind celebrated the start of construction of its 69-megawatt (MW) Kawailoa Wind project on Kamehameha Schools’ Kawailoa Plantation lands on Oahu’s North Shore.  Once complete, Kawailoa Wind will be the largest wind energy facility in Hawaii. The site’s thirty 2.3 MW Siemens wind turbines will have the capacity to generate enough clean, renewable wind energy to power the equivalent of approximately 14,500 homes on the island, or as much as five percent of Oahu’s annual electrical demand.

U.S. Bank and East West Bank to finance $47 million in Borrego Solar projects

Borrego Solar Systems, Inc. secured a $47 million fund from U.S. Bancorp and East West Bancorp to support more than 10 megawatts of projects in California and Massachusetts—including the largest project of its kind to date in Massachusetts, according to Borrego.
 
The company will use the fund to build 6 megawatts (MW) of PV systems in California, including 10 projects throughout three school districts. Borrego will build two projects in Massachusetts, including a 4.7 megawatt project that will be the largest of its kind in the state.

First Wind Commemorates Completion of Steel Winds II Expansion

First Wind, an independent U.S.-based wind energy company, today celebrated the completion of its Steel Winds II expansion.  U.S. Rep. Brian Higgins, D-Buffalo, and other local leaders joined First Wind officials for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the project site, which was built on the shores of Lake Erie on the abandoned Bethlehem Steel mill site.

Ameresco and Philadelphia Water Department Announce Northeast Water Pollution Control Plant Biogas Project

Ameresco, Inc, a leading energy efficiency and renewable energy company, and the Philadelphia Water Department (PWD) today announced an agreement to design, build and maintain an innovative wastewater biogas-to-energy facility.  The Northeast Water Pollution Control Plant (NEWPCP) Biogas Project will generate electricity and thermal energy for use on-site, fueled mainly by biogas from the NEWPCP digesters. The $47.5M construction project, designed to generate 5.6 MW of power, is expected to reduce PWD energy costs by over $12 million over the course of the 16 year contract.

Report: GreatPoint Energy Grabs $420M from Chinese Investor
