Borrego Solar Creates Its Largest Single Fund for Solar Energy Projects

 

Borrego Solar has closed a new $64.4 million fund for financing solar projects for a number of municipal, educational, and corporate customers. This latest fund, which is Borrego's largest since the company began offering cost-effective Power Purchase Agreements in 2009, brings the company's total raised capital to over $225 million. The fund will be used to build eight projects totalling more than 18 megawatts of solar energy.

Ernst & Young's Headquarters Goes Green With Lighting Retrofit Project

 

Ernst & Young LLP has completed a lighting retrofit in its New York City headquarters. The new energy efficient lighting--a result of one of the largest lighting retrofits in New York history--will cut the building's annual energy use by 2.9 million kilowatt-hours. The updated facilities will also reduce the office's lighting-related energy and maintenance costs, saving the company an annual $1 million.

NECE Member A123 Systems has made an agreement with BAE Systems to supply battery packs to city buses and other commercial vehicles. A123's battery packs are already in use on 3,000 buses globally, but the new agreement will feature a more economical and compact model of A123's battery cells.
