Meet & Greet with the Mayor of Reykjavik

Join NEWIEE and Prince Lobel Tye for an informative afternoon with the Honorable Dagur B. Eggertsson, Mayor of Reykjavik, Iceland. Presently all of Reykjavik’s electricity and heat is primarily generated by renewable energy in the form of geothermal, which is so inexpensive that some residents open their windows in winter to cool down their dwellings. Reykjavik however, still relies on imported oil and gas to fuel their vehicles, which can be very costly.

Learn more about the rewards and challenges of being 100% renewable for electricity, but still dependent on foreign oil to fuel the country’s vehicles.  Attending with Mayor Eggertsson will be Rikardur Rikardsson, Director of Sales and Business Development and Bjorgvin Sigurdsson, Executive Vice President of Business Development, at Landsvirkjun, the National Power Company of Iceland, and Hlynur Gudjonsson, Consul General and Trade Commissioner, Consulate General of Iceland in New York, as well as other Iceland officials.  We hope to see you at this informative and enjoyable event.  Refreshments will be served, with plenty of networking.

Attendance is complimentary, but please RSVP through Eventbrite:
